Tournaments and trips

Tournaments & trips with DINA: what to bring and how everything is organized (for parents)

A tournament or away trip is not only football, but also logistics: meeting time, meals, clothing, discipline, and safety. Below are simple rules so parents feel calm and kids feel comfortable.

Checklist

1) How we organize trips and tournaments

  • 1
    Information in advance
Parents receive: date & time, location (address), meeting time, travel format (bus / parents’ cars), responsible coach/contact, and a meal plan (if relevant).
  • 2
    Team meeting
The child arrives on time (ideally 10 minutes early). We check kit/documents/well-being. The coach assigns roles and reminds the rules.
  • 3
    Travel
If by bus: coaches are responsible for discipline and safety; kids stay seated and wear seatbelts (if available); water is mandatory; snacks follow the rules.
If by parents’ cars: we agree in advance who drives with whom; the child travels only with an approved adult.
  • 4
    On site
The team stays together. Parents are told the meeting point. Kids do not walk around without the coach.
  • 5
    After
Team check-in (everyone present), travel home, and a short summary: what went well and what we improve next.

Key points (quick)

Rule #1: the child stays with the team and follows the coach.
Rule #2: simple food + water is better than trying something new on match day.
If the child is sick / has medical restrictions — please inform the coach in advance.

Parents at tournaments

  • support, but do not coach from the stands
  • after the game — calm support, not a “debrief” in the heat of emotions
  • questions are discussed with the coach privately after the tournament

2) Must-have checklist

Equipment

boots/shoes for the surface (indoor / artificial turf)
shin guards
football socks / high socks
team match kit (if provided)
training set for warm-up

Weather clothing

warm jacket / windbreaker
hat / gloves (cold season)
rain jacket (if the forecast is uncertain)
spare dry hoodie/top

Food & water

water (ideally one bottle per child)
light snack: banana / sandwich / yogurt / crackers
for long trips: a lunch box with normal food (as agreed)

Hygiene & small items

small towel
wet wipes/tissues
plaster/band-aid (just in case)
bag for wet clothes
if needed: personal medication (and inform the coach)

3) Nice to have (optional)

  • spare T-shirt
  • extra socks
  • small travel pillow
  • charger / power bank (only if necessary and under parents’ responsibility)

4) Better NOT to bring

  • expensive items / jewelry
  • large amounts of cash
  • lots of sweets and soda
  • gadgets/games that distract and can be lost

6) Food at tournaments (very simple)

Rule: simple food is better than something new.
  • water, banana, sandwich, yogurt, crackers
  • avoid: fast food and greasy meals — kids feel heavy and play worse
  • if time between games is short — keep snacks small to avoid stomach heaviness

7) If your child is ill or injured

Please inform the coach in advance if there is:
  • fever / strong cough / feeling unwell
  • an injury that prevents playing
  • doctor’s restrictions
Sometimes it’s better to skip a trip and recover — that’s normal.

8) How we communicate about trips

  • messages in the parents/team group
  • direct message to the coach for individual questions
  • if you didn’t receive the info — message the coach and we’ll resend it
